Tomahawk Figure Skating Club (TFSC) has both a Learn to Skate (LTS) USA program and an ASPIRE program.

Learn to Skate Program

Following the LTS curriculum and the guidelines of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), our goal is help skaters gain confidence as they learn new skills and to help develop a lifelong love for skating.

Our season begins in mid-October and runs through mid-March.  During the season our club hosts two shows and a Compete USA competition.  These three events are open to skaters of all levels.

Group lessons are given on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at Sara Park Ice Rink. Each lesson is 45 minutes and exact times will be determined by rink availability and number of registered skaters.  Additional ice time and opportunities for private lessons are available on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

ASPIRE Program

Aspire serves as a bridge between the Learn to Skate curriculum and full USFSA membership.  Skaters that are part of the Aspire program will be able to learn their pre-preliminary skating skills, singles and dances.  Once ready to test, skaters can elect to find an in-person test session or test via a virtual test session.

Group lessons are given on Sundays at Sara Park Ice Rink. Each lesson is 30 minutes and exact times will be determined by rink availability and number of registered skaters.  Additional ice time and opportunities for private lessons are available on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

TFSC has always been a big part of my life. I started skating at 4 years old through high school & then coached a few years after. I had my two kids and ended up stepping away from the club while raising them. When my oldest reached 4 she stepped on the ice for the first time and fell in love with it instantly. My youngest joined her a few years later & we haven’t looked back. Watching all the skaters of all levels learn & grow in a sport that I loved growing up has been a delight I can’t even begin to describe. When a board member approached me & asked if becoming a board member would be something I would be interested in, I thought she was crazy. Little did I know, that was my next step in TFSC. This is now my 5th year on the board, & I look forward to trying to enhance every skater’s experience to the best of my ability.

Hi, my name is Heather Jacobsen and this is my 4rd year with the club, as my daughter started skating at the age of 6. This will be my 3rd year on the TFSC board. It’s been exciting to watch the skaters master their skills and grow as individuals as well. I also enjoy helping the club put together the shows for the skaters to show off what they have worked so hard on. I joined the board because I want to help make a difference to the club & it’s skaters and I’m excited to be part of putting together another successful year!

I have been part of the TFSC for about 12 years now when my oldest daughter Zoey joined the club at the age of 3, and then my second daughter Hallie joined when she was about 9. I have been on & off the board for 10 years. I love being a part of making a difference in the club & watching how it grows. My favorite is watching all the skaters succeed in doing something that they love and enjoying doing!  I enjoy watching the skaters get excited over a mastered skill that they have worked so hard on learning. I can’t wait to see what this year brings!!

This is my 3rd year on the board, my 5th year having my daughter skate with the club. I enjoy the insight I get as a board member, knowing our goals and where the club is headed.
